Looking to keep busy by meeting an elders?

Fri 11/30/07 - Thu 7/31 (7PM) @ Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly
3305 Washington St Jamaica Plain, MA 02130   Map

Volunteers are ordinary people with extraordinary love and concern for others, contributing their time, talent and energy at an extraordinary time of life. We would be delighted that you are willing to share some of your valuable time, energy and knowledge with us. Your involvement with our organization will help us keep the past alive and accessible to everyone interested in exploring it, yourself included.

Description:

Intergenerational Matching:

Little Brothers-Friends of the Elderly!. has committed itself to enriching the lives of the elderly and their volunteers by fostering friendships that celebrate life. Such friendships are linked together by shared laughter, time-honored stories, and cherished dreams that teach us about ourselves. Volunteers are matched with elder friends to develop one-on-one long-term relationships. Volunteers commit to be in touch with their elder friend regularly - typically 3-4 times a month.

We are seeking volunteers to visit our elder friends through out the summer months while many of the students who tend to participate are on vacation. We will be seeking volunteers to attend our December 27 (or a personalize orientation upon request) (from 6pm to 8pm) orientations who could then begin in November/December and continue until late October/November 2008.

Requirements:
In order to be matched with an elder person, Little Brothers-Friends of the Elderly!. complies with state regulations that requests information from the Criminal History Systems Board pursuant to Chapter 6 §172C that mandates agencies which accept such individual as a volunteer.
Simply. we require volunteers to complete a CORI. As well, the agency also requires two references.

Volunteers commit to be in touch with their elder friend regularly - typically 3-4 times a month.
If you choose to escort elders in your car to our event to medical appointments or assist them with driving errands we ask for a copy of your drivers license and a copy of proof of insurance.
