Get ready for this very special evening featuring The Black Ghosts
(Live) & Holy Ghost! (DJ Set) at Mighty.
The Black Ghosts lament through their perverse, personal pop music. Theirs is a
peculiarly British noir, where the divorcee next door dreams of
nocturnal visitations from predatory incubi, and an awkward boy
genius tinkers with forbidden science in the garden shed. Unmanned
Casio keyboards left for dead in the loft burst into requiems of
their own composition, attractive cousins are murdered for what
they know, and an unspeakable horror lurks in the depths of the
spare room.
Meanwhile,
Holy Ghost! have been the talk of the town for a while now, as part of the
gigantic disco revival that is taking New York over at the moment
(not that we're complaining, mind you). It seems like every cool
new band's main references have shifted from the Velvet Underground
and Joy Division to Donna Summer and Giorgio Moroder, which is
quite a breath of much needed fresh air.
