Akinyi and I were thinking the same thing so we decided to start this group.

With so many wonderful and interesting people on HLG, it is hard to find the time to read everyone's blogs to really find out what you know. And sometimes what you know, you might not have even shared on your blog.

It can be anything from your favorite quote to letting us know who inspires you, to a life lesson that changed your life. It can be something you are an expert on or a special skill you have that others might find interesting or can benefit from.

So please come join us. You might be surprised to see who and how many others can relate to and benefit from who you are and what you know!

They are dedicating an entire show to hooking up two of her style
team that are looking for Mr.Right. We are looking for 25 straight
men and 25 gay men for this show:

    Tyra's stylist #1 :
she is black, straight, mid 30's and a fun
personality - she prefers non American men (Caribbean a plus)
at least 5'10" extremely exotic looking guys in their 30's &
40's with a bubbling personality to match hers.

    Tyra's hair stylist #2:
He is black, gay, early 40's and the shy
type : he prefers black men 30's-40's, but shorter guys 5'9" and
under, since he is short himself, someone ambitious but a
    homebody type and independent.

Both stylists are open to other races as well.

Again just want to reiterate this is not a PAID gig, this is
for fun only! It could be a chance at romance, you never know.

This show would happen next week Tuesday 4/15 in the afternoon. This

    For Immediate Release

(New York, NY, January 31, 2008) A new fashion website is set to launch
February 8th, 2008. Rockthelook.com is a new online game that allows users
to vie for the latest fashions simply by putting their best face forward!

To become a member, log onto
    www.rockthelook.com and create a profile.

This exciting new web showcase for the stylish set allows members to upload
photos of themselves wearing the latest fashions, all in the hopes of
winning even bigger ticket accessories and shopping gift certificates.

The site is the brainchild of Consuela Nance and Maureen Tokeson-Martin. "We
know that some women and men are effortlessly stylish. They can pull off
ensembles that are comparable to looks that professional stylists put
together for magazine fashion shoots. These fashionistas may not be
featured in magazines but they are the style icons of their communities.
They show us all how to translate the pages of the runway to our own
closets. It's a thankless job that needs to be not only recognized but also
rewarded. Rockthelook.com will allow our members to get excited about
dressing and compete with one another to see who is "really rocking a look."

Each week our fashion experts and celebrities will select the hottest 3
looks from photos submitted by our members who are looking to win one or all
of our weekly fashion giveaways. These 3 fashion competitors will be
featured on our site along with the prizes. We invite our members and the
general public to vote and select the person who they think is rocking the
hottest look. At the end of each week votes will be tallied and the winner
    announced on Rockthelook.com.

The official launch for "Rockthelook.com" will be marked by an "avant-gard"
fashion shoot on February 7th, 2008, and a podcast hosted by Nicole Fiscella
from CW network's very popular "Gossip Girl" series. Guests will be dressed
for a covershoot while half a dozen photographers capture their looks for
the Rockthelook.com website and Myspace.com page. The judges will include
Ok! Magazine's Delaina Dixon, Amanda Doll Sheppard & Lucia Tait, Personal
Shoppers and proprietors of Coup de Coeur Shopping Tours', Kristopher Dukes
the fashion blogger, and Keiko Shimizu, Photo Agent of Keiko Represents,
    Inc.

The first official winner of Rockthelook.com will be awarded prizes from
Suarez New York, Hale Bob, Freedom of Choice Jeans, Sarah Jessica Parker's
"Bitten" collection for Steve and Barry, We the People, Bejeweled, and the
lshandi collection with more prizes to be announced. Rockthelook.com has
partnered with http://Going.com for the launch and future fashion related
cross-promotions. Going helps you find fun things to do and fun people to
    meet.

I am sorry to anyone who gets upset about this, but I'll be deleting comments that are purely promotional. I'd like people to share things they've learned in their life journey and which hopefully others can learn from not which party they are promoting. Promotional comments dilute this as well as put off the kind of poster who would have something real to share that we could all learn from. Sorry promoters I love you, but there are groups like "NYC nightlife" which we look at a lot and you can post there.

La. appeal court overturns conviction in `Jena Six' case

      http://www.katc.com/Global/story.asp?s=70...

NEW ORLEANS -- A state appeals court Friday tossed out the aggravated battery conviction that could have sent a black teenager to prison for 15 years in last year's beating of a white classmate in the racially tense north Louisiana town of Jena.

Mychal Bell, who was 16 at the time of the December beating, should not have been tried as an adult on the battery charge, the state Third Circuit Court of Appeal in Lake Charles ruled late Friday.

Bell is one of six black Jena High School students charged in an attack on fellow student Justin Barker, and one of five originally charged as adults with attempted second-degree murder.

The charges brought widespread criticism that blacks were being treated more harshly than whites after racial altercations at their school.

He was to be sentenced this coming Thursday in a case that has brought international attention to Jena. Civil rights leaders, including the Revs. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, have been planning a rally in support of the teens that same day.

While teenagers can be tried as adults in Louisiana for some violent crimes, including attempted murder, aggravated battery is not one of those crimes. Defense lawyers had argued that the aggravated battery case should not have been tried in adult court once the attempted murder charge was reduced.

"The defendant was not tried on an offense which could have subjected him to the jurisdiction of the criminal court," the three-paragraph ruling said.

The case "remains exclusively in juvenile court," the Third Circuit ruled.
