Meet the Team: Taylor Vance

Tell us about you! (Where are you from, hobbies/interests, things you do outside of work!)

I'm from Cherokee, AL (a tiny little town with a population under 1000), but I'm currently living in Nashville, TN! When I'm not working, I love traveling (duh), hiking, photography, reading, and hanging out with my puppy.

What does a Social Media Manager do anyway? How did you get in to Marketing?

A Social Media Manager can mean different things to different people, but at its core, it is simply ✨managing social media.✨ Here at Going, that means strategizing the best ways to meet our target demographics, where they spend most of their time converting them to Going members. So, I spend most of my time consuming and creating content, engaging with our audience, tracking analytics, and then making informed decisions on the next steps. I'm also dabbling in influencer marketing, which is very exciting!

My concentration in college was Public Relations, but I always loved Social Media and decided to pursue it further after graduating. I held several internships in the tourism and hospitality industry during college before making a full-time career of it post-grad.

What's your favorite thing about your role here at Going?

Creative freedom! Not all people understand the nuances of social media, and sometimes, it can be difficult to explain to executives why the latest brain-rot meme would resonate with our audience. At Going, I've always felt fully understood and supported when trying new, out-of-the-box ideas!

I also love that everyone here is passionate about travel. The energy is infectious and has personally inspired me to plan more trips!

What advice would you give to a candidate interested in working at Going?

Be intentional and authentic during your application process. It shows when applicants are passionate about their work and the company they're applying for.

What brought you to Going in the first place? What's your why (why Going?)?

I'd been a Going fan/member since the SCF days. I was already marketing Going by telling friends and family about it long before being hired! I had followed the social accounts and often thought to myself how fun it looked to work at this company. When the SMM position opened up, I jumped on it!

What travel experience moved you the most?

Travel always moves me, so this is a tough one. Last year, I took my family on a trip to Jackson Hole, WY / Grand Tetons, NP. My dad hasn't traveled much in his life and has never been further west than Missouri. Watching him see the grandeur of the mountains for the first time was so special to me, and it reminded me never to take the experiences I've been blessed with for granted.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I was convinced I was going to be a popstar… I watched a lot of Hannah Montana.
