Who is the Delta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express Card for?

If you fly Delta often, this card offers a lot of valuable benefits. It entitles you to priority boarding, a free checked bag, and a companion certificate (each card anniversary).

For travelers who don't fly Delta exclusively, other premium travel cards may be more rewarding.

Pros and cons

Pros:

Earns SkyMiles on a wide range of purchases.
Application credit for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck: Every 4.5 years for TSA PreCheck and every 4 years for Global Entry
First Checked Bag Free: for the cardholder and up to eight others on the same reservation.

Cons:

Relatively high annual fee.
The companion certificate is first available on your card renewal, which means you can't take advantage of this perk in the first year of card membership.

Our take

If you fly Delta regularly, this card could be rewarding. The wide range of perks can help offset its hefty annual fee.
